WONDERFUL ORIGINAL FIVE VOLUME SCOTT INTERNATIONAL COLLECTION 1840-1940 - In the original albums Scott put out in 1940 with stamps for every Scott listed stamp so that collectors had a place to assemble a collection of the world. This collection has been in one family for nearly 80 years and collecting together and acquiring rare and elusive stamps has been the work of three generations. The collection is highly complete with tens of thousands of attractive mint and used stamps. The first two generations  (father and grandfather) passed this collection to their son and grandson in 2003 when it was cataloged by the 2003 Scott catalog at over $210,000. The third generation collectors added thousands of stamps spending over $30,000 (net) additional on the collection beyond the $210,000 that it cataloged in 2003. Today, this is a major collection, having well over half of all the stamps issued in the first hundred years of our hobby. The albums are in excellent condition and the stamps are largely Very Fine. The collection today has a current Scott value of over $335,000. We scannned the first 250 pages of the first volume to give you a feel for the collection.
